Religion

Morning Prayer … please say this Easter Prayer every morning to remind you of Jesus.

Dear God,

Thank you for giving us such good gifts.
For our families who love us.
For delicious things to eat and drink.
For so many different beautiful animals.
For parks with tall trees and soft grass and flowers.
For birds that soar among the clouds.
For seas and streams that are fun to swim and paddle in.
And thank you for your son Jesus.
We like to read about Him in the Bible.
He taught His disciples about you.
He healed people who were sick.
He walked on water.
He even died and came back to life for us.
Help us to remember all the things He did
And to show our love for Him every day.

Amen.

Religion Textbook … pp. 149-153

Please read, write and discuss these pages with a grown-up.

Learn the 10 Commandments

Use the following list to study the 10 Commandments.  When you think you can say all ten without looking at the list, you and I will have a Zoom meeting together!  You do not have to say them in order, and you do not have to use the exact same words, as long as you understand what the commandment means.  Do not worry about our meeting.  I will help you if you need it.  Take as long as you need … we do not have to have our Zoom meeting this week … but we can if you are ready!

God’s Perfect Ten

1. Keep God first in your life.

2. Keep God’s name holy.

3. Keep the Lord’s day holy.

4. Love and obey your parents and  guardians.

5. Do not kill … be kind to people and animals.

6. Be respectful in the things you do with your body.

7. Do not steal.

8. Do not tell lies.

9. Keep your thoughts and words clean.

10. Be happy with the things you have … don’t be jealous of others.

10 Commandments Poster

Make a colorful poster showing the 10 Commandments in words and pictures.  Use your poster to help you study the 10 Commandments.  You can bring your poster to a Zoom meeting to share!

Reading

Read 20read for at least 20 minutes each day this week

You can read by yourself, read to a family member, read to a pet or to a stuffed animal … OR … you can listen to an audio book (see the K-2 Websites page) … OR … listen to someone read to you!

Don’t forget to talk with a grown-up about what you have read!

I-ready Reading … please try to complete at least 5 lessons this week

You can do more than five lessons, but give each lesson your best effort!

Reading Book

Read Turtle”s Race with Beaver, pp. 220-245.  Discuss the questions on p. 243 with a grown-up.

Reading Practice Book

Complete pages 73-80.  Check them with a grown-up and leave them in your book for now.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Read-Aloud … Tortoise and Hare’s Amazing Race by Marianne Berkes and Cathy Morrison

Assigned to our class in Epic! (getepic.com)  Our class code is … pqq1512.

Read-Aloud Follow-Up … Tortoise and Hare’s Amazing Race by Marianne Berkes and Cathy Morrison

Compare and contrast Turtle’s Race with Beaver and Tortoise and Hare’s Amazing Race.  In your writing journal, list three things that are the same, and three things that are different.

Writing

Write your teacher an email at least once this week!

You can write more than once!  I love hearing from you … and I promise to write back!

Write in your writing journal at least three times.

Put a date at the top of the page.  Use a new page for each new story or journal entry.

You may write about what you have been doing, write about a funny thing that happened to you, or write a story that you have created out of your own imagination.

Your story may be short or long.  It does not have to be about you.

Try to use powerful words that help your reader understand your story better.

You may want to add to your story when you write the next day.  You do not have to write a brand-new story every day.

Do not worry about spelling every word correctly while you are writing.  After you have finished writing your story, you can ask a grown-up to help you edit and revise.

When you are finished with a story, your grown-up can take a picture of it and send it to me through email.  Your grown-up could also take a video of you reading your story … I would love to hear it!

If you don’t know what to write about … try to use one of the following writing prompts:

  • You are the Easter Bunny.  It’s the day before Easter, and all of your eggs have disappeared!  What do you do!?!  (Be sure to include your reasons!)
  • What Christmas job could the Easter Bunny have?  (Be sure to include your reasons!)
  • You have just landed on Pluto.  Plan an Easter celebration for the planet.  (It would be fun to include a picture with lots of detail!)

Math

Study 20 (study for at least 20 minutes three times this week)

You can study your math binder, practice with flash cards, use Splash Math, or play other math games for at least 20 minutes.
